East Ross-shire

HIE I&EH saw a change in its boundaries in 2006, bringing in Easter Ross and the Black Isle.

It is a beautiful area of the country which includes Inchbae Forest, Aultguish, Gorstan, Lochluichart, Strathconon, and Monar Forest. It also includes the major towns of Dingwall and Invergordon.

Dingwall is the County Town of Ross and Cromarty, just 12 miles north of the city of Inverness. Sitting at the head of the Cromarty Firth, Dingwall was made a Royal Burgh in 1226 and is an excellent base from which to visit many of the interesting parts of the east coast. It is also increasingly a useful base for people wishing to commute to jobs in Inverness.

Invergordon is renowned for its oil rig expertise. A pretty town, it has a variety of facilities and things to do. From its challenging 18 hole golf course to a thriving arts centre, visitors and residents have plenty to enjoy.
